The cuff-off date for re-instating historic Rights of Way is now set at 1 January 2031. This follows the activation of powers in the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 in November of this year. Further work will take place in 2024 and 2025 for routes which are not on the definitive map. These further reforms should also make it easier for farmers to apply to divert footpaths away from farmyards and farmhouses for safety and security reasons.
